Abstract

The present work, presented under the pretext of obtaining approval in the Nursing course, taught by UNIFACIG, addresses the risk of falls in the elderly caused by urinary incontinence syndrome. Urinary incontinence (UI) and accidents due to falls are considered two of the most important and recurrent geriatric syndromes due to the magnitude of their occurrence and their consequences. UI is not only a physiological problem, but also a psychological one, which has consequences for a person's social, economic, occupational, domestic and sexual aspects, that is, it directly affects their quality of life. Every individual is subject to falling, but when this is an elderly person, this accident can have irreversible consequences. This article will carry out a bibliographical review of the available works that address this topic.
