Abstract

 

A sedentary lifestyle is a serious problem in global public health, also occurring widely in Brazil. Objective: To highlight the role of the nursing professional in combating a sedentary lifestyle, as well as to highlight health education programs that contribute to reducing a sedentary lifestyle; finally, the work also aimed to understand health education practices to combat a sedentary lifestyle in public services . Method: The research was carried out through a qualitative-exploratory bibliographic review based on the journals SCIELO, LILACS and BVS, with a time frame of 2018-2023. Results: 148 publications were found, which underwent methodological filtering, reaching a total of 8 publications included, in which discussion topics were developed based on the selected authors. Conclusion: Finally, it was concluded that the role of nursing professionals in health education in combating a sedentary lifestyle plays a vital role in the prevention and control of chronic diseases related to a sedentary lifestyle, after all it is through access to information and evidence-based practices, they empower individuals and communities to make informed decisions about their health and implement positive changes in their lives.
