Abstract

Objective: The present study aims to describe the characteristics of blockers, elucidate the main nursing diagnoses and possible care plans for patients using neuromuscular blockers. Methodology: Articles were collected from 2013 to 2023 in the Virtual Health Library in the months of May to June 2023, resulting in 14 articles inherent to the subject that were found to belong to the chosen timeline. Results: Neuromuscular blockers are medications commonly used in routine care in the Intensive Care Unit, being used in procedures such as orotracheal intubation and in maintaining patient sedation. Conclusion: Thus, it was concluded that Neuromuscular Blockers are medications that, if used with caution and sparingly, prove to be of great help in both emergency situations, such as orotracheal intubation, and can also be used to maintain patient sedation.
