Abstract

Canine ehrlichiosis is an infectious disease transmitted by vectors, especially the tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus, which affects dogs in various regions, including the municipality of Manhuaçu-MG. Caused by the bacterium Ehrlichia, this disease causes a series of haematological changes in infected animals and can lead to death if not treated properly. This work aims to review the literature on ehrlichiosis, based on the article by Macedo and Lima (2023), as well as presenting data obtained through an online questionnaire applied to veterinary surgeons in the city. The results show that ehrlichiosis is prevalent in the region, with a high incidence in dogs in urban areas, which raises concerns about public health and public awareness of prevention.
