Abstract

The transformations in the mental health care model promoted by the Psychiatric Reform in Brazil demand innovations in the training and practice of nurses. The Systematization of Nursing Care is a potentially effective tool to qualify mental health care in Psychosocial Care Centers, aligning with the demands of a psychosocial model of care centered on the subject and their uniqueness. The objective is to discuss the application of the Systematization of Nursing Care in the context of Psychosocial Care Centers and to analyze nursing care strategies that promote patient autonomy and self-care, highlighting the importance of humanized and interdisciplinary practices in the mental health scenario. This is an integrative review of the literature carried out between 2014 and 2024, with research in databases such as Scielo, MEDLINE, Google Scholar and LILACS. Thus, the Systematization of Nursing Care, operationalized by the Nursing Process, was identified as a relevant instrument to structure mental health care, favoring humanized practices and promoting patient autonomy. However, its application in Psychosocial Care Centers faces resistance due to the predominance of the biomedical model and the lack of training of professionals. Strategies such as therapeutic communication, building bonds and valuing the subjectivity of patients were identified as essential for the development of self-care and overcoming stigmas. Therefore, the implementation of the Systematization of Nursing Care in Psychosocial Care Centers has the potential to qualify mental health care, integrating humanized practices focused on the uniqueness of the subjects. In view of this, it is essential to strengthen the protagonism of patients and the role of nurses in the multidisciplinary team. However, there are gaps in the practical use of the Nursing Process in these services, reinforcing the need for more in-depth research on its integration.
