Abstract

This study aimed to analyze deaths among women of childbearing age in the Southeast region of Brazil between 2013 and 2023, focusing on coping strategies and associated medical propaedeutics. This is a cross-sectional epidemiological study conducted using secondary data from the Southeast region of Brazil. Data were collected through the Information Technology Portal for SUS, in accordance with the federative units of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Espírito Santo, including variables such as ICD-10 chapter, age, color/race, education level, marital status, and place of occurrence, which were used for descriptive analysis and data discussion. Based on the results, 322,036 deaths of women of childbearing age (10 to 49 years) were recorded in the Southeast region between 2013 and 2023. Mortality was highest among women aged 30 to 49 years, predominantly ase  and mixed-race, with low education levels and single marital status. Neoplastic diseases, circulatory and respiratory system diseases, and external causes of mortality and morbidity were the ase do causes of death. Most deaths occurred in hospital settings, with a high investigation rate ase don summary records. Public health actions, qualified medical care, and the prevention of avoidable causes are essential pillars for reducing mortality among women of childbearing age.
