Abstract

Currently, on the world stage, there is an increase in the number of breast cancer diagnoses, which has a great impact on public health and the quality of life of these patients. Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that happens due to genetic changes in mammary gland cells. The nurse has the role of carrying out health education, thus having the necessary knowledge to carry out the screening and early diagnosis of breast cancer. Therefore, the objective of this work is to describe nursing care in the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer. This is a bibliographic research of the integrative review type. The literature search was carried out in the databases of the Scienticif Electronic Library (SCIELO), on the websites of INCA, the Virtual Health Library (VHL), the Ministry of Health and COFEN on the role of nurses in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. breast. Primary and secondary care nurses are responsible for applying their knowledge about risk factors for breast cancer and disease prevention measures in their care area. Guidance on the warning signs and symptoms for cancer, which, perceived at the beginning, lead to an early diagnosis and a favorable prognosis for cure. Conclusion: It is extremely important for nurses to provide systematized and humanized care, ensuring that the patient's needs are met, promoting their physical, emotional and spiritual comfort.

Pós-Graduada em Educação Profissional e Tecnológica pelo Instituto Federal do Espírito Santo. Mestre em Ciências pelo departamento de Imunologia e Bioquímica da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto - USP. Bacharel e Licenciada em Ciências Biológicas pela Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto. Anteriormente atuei como aluna de iniciação científica do Laboratório de Doença de Chagas-UFOP, com ênfase em Protozoologia Parasitária Animal. Também atuei como professora de Biologia nos ensinos médio e fundamental de redes públicas e particulares. Atualmente sou professora da Faculdade do Futuro e da Faculdade de Ciências Gerenciais de Manhuaçu, Membro do Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa da Faculdade do Futuro em Manhuaçu/MG, Membro do núcleo Doscente Estruturante do Curso Superior de Tecnologia em Gestão Ambiental da Faculdade de Ciências Gerenciais de Manhuaçu e Professora efetiva de Ciência na Secretaride Educação do Estado de Minas Gerais e Professora de Biologia no Colégio Tiradentes da Polícia Militar de Minas Gerais em Manhuaçu.
